“I trained myself to do the things that scared me the most. I trained myself to speak in public by practicing in front of a mirror in the bathroom. I had to do it when I got to Princeton for my PhD studies because I was suddenly put in a seminar room with ten people where you couldn’t hide; you had to express an opinion. Then, when I got back to Mexico, people started asking me to give conferences to convey my thoughts to a broader audience. First it was 50; then it was 100. Now, I speak in front of 2,000 people or more.”
