“In every recommendation letter anyone’s ever written about me, they always called me a natural leader. I used to think that meant I was bossy and told other people what to do. Over time I have learned that isn’t the kind of leader I want to be. If I tell people what to do and they do it, what did they learn from it? What have I learned from it? Absolutely nothing. What did they gain from it? What did I gain from it? Absolutely nothing. My real passion is around international relations and making a difference for humanity. Real leadership isn’t about getting people to do things. It’s getting people to buy-into what I’m talking about or what I’m trying to convey.”
